RVALUG News for July 2025

June was another fun month for RVALUG. We had a great meeting with a theater themed build challenge, and Tyler R and Josh B hosted a display at Richmond Public Library’s RippleCon Event. RVA-LUG is also busy preparing for one of our favorite events, BrickFair Virginia.  BrickFair VA is hosted in Chantilly each year at the Dulles Expo Center the first weekend in August. So this year, RVA LUG is head up starting on July 30th to set up our collaborative club display. We hope to have even more members attending this year, but here is a look back at last years group photo! HELP WANTED! Our friend Ben E. has a big job coming up and he could use a hand! “Hi Richmond friends! I’m a local LEGO artist, and over the past couple of years, I’ve been designing custom LEGO sculptures for folks around town. I’m currently looking for a bit of extra help on a new project from someone who can assemble a model based on a LEGO Studio file I’ve designed. Basically, I’m hoping to pay someone to build a very large LEGO set! I’m looking for someone who’s comfortable working in the LEGO Studio digital program and has experience building their own creations. We are also hosting a PART DRAFT at this meeting. Bring one sealed copy of “LEGO DREAMZzz Z-Blob’s Robot and Vehicle Adventures” set #71487 to participate. This set is currently on clearance at Target and Amazon for $5.52. https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-DR… August 16th 1pm to 4pm: Build Challenge is a seed part challenge. The challenge is to create any MOC that incorporates brick separators. Annual End of Summer Barbecue: September 20th 3pm to 7pm BBQ IN ASHLAND; Select any set, and re-theme it. (Ex. Friends X-Wing). Save the Date! Our annual “End of LUG Year” Barbecue is coming in September. We will once again be hosted by Tyler at his Goat Farm, in Ashland VA. The Party is also our September LUG Meeting, which will start at 3pm for this event. The party is September 20th 3pm to 7pm; Build Challenge is to Select any set, and re-theme it. (Ex. Friends X-Wing). Join us on discord to participate in planning our displays for these upcoming events: BrickFair Chantilly:  July 30th to August 3rd At the Dulles Expo Center Dennis R. is coordinating the overall layout for this event, while Brian S. is coordinating the City blocks for the City and Train layout. We are looking to revitalize RVALUG City. Try to build a new structure or park MOC to be featured in our City and Train Layout.  Corner buildings wanted!  We need more MOCs, not Modular sets from the LEGO Creator line, please.
