Richmond Virginia LEGO User Group Monthly Newsletter: May 2026

Happy May, everyone! We have a busy month ahead with several opportunities to build, display, and connect. Here is the latest news and a look at our upcoming schedule.

Tonight: Monthly First Tuesday Dinner

Don’t forget that our monthly social dinner takes place tonight! We will be meeting at Qpot Hot Pot & BBQ in Short Pump. It’s a great chance to catch up with fellow members in a relaxed setting before our main meeting later this month. We hope to see you there for some great food and conversation.

Member Survey: We Want Your Feedback

To help us better serve the community and plan for future events, we are currently conducting a member survey. Whether you are a long-time member or have recently joined us, your input is incredibly valuable. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts via the link below:

May Monthly Meeting & Maersk Workshop

Our next official meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Guzman Center near Willow Lawn.

The Maersk workshop, which was originally scheduled for April, has been moved to this meeting. We are looking forward to finally diving into this project together.

Upcoming Displays:

RippleCon

Our next display opportunity will be at RippleCon, the Richmond Public Library’s annual comic-con. This is a wonderful way to engage with the local community. Tom C. is coordinating our layout and logistics for this event. If you are interested in displaying a MOC or assisting with the booth, please reach out to Tom directly to sign up.

Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen

Thank you to all who contributed to out Spring and Summer gallery display at the Cultural Arts Center. Shout outs to Seth P, Tom C, and Hillary J. for accepting the individual feature challenge. Their individual layouts showcase their amazing talent! Special Thanks to Chris O, Debbie W, Erik (Sajuuk), Tyler G, Paul I, Josh H, Sean W, Brian S, and David M for contributing to the Space, Western, Pop Culture, and City themed shelves!

Be sure to stop by sometime between May 2 and July 12 to see the display!

April Recap: Ashland Train Day

A big thank you to everyone who participated in Ashland Train Day last month! We had a fantastic time displaying for the crowds and seeing the various train-themed builds. It was a successful outing and a great way to kick off our spring event season.

May Build Challenge: A Touch of Maersk

In preparation for our workshop on May 16th, this month’s challenge is focused on our ongoing collaboration with The LEGO Group.

  • The Task: Bring in an old or new MOC to the May meeting.
  • Alternative: If you are short on time, feel free to bring in a small to medium-sized official set instead.
  • The Workshop: During the meeting, we will provide an assortment of parts in Maersk colors (including Medium Azure, New Dark Red, and more) so you can stylize and “Maersk-ify” your creation.

We look forward to seeing the creative ways you integrate these specific colors into your builds!

*** See you tonight at dinner!
